Benevento, Here Where We Send Our Children Into the Unknown -
POST 1 Letter from a MotherIn
This city, the job market is stagnant, construction is at a standstill, everything feels old and worn out. And mothers have only one fear: watching their children leave.
Here, in Benevento, the fact is that during this past mayoral term, we have never seen any sign of improvement.
Not in originality, not in efficiency, not in urban decorum, not in modernization, not in the promotion of local culture.
There have been numerous changes in the city council along the way, including the deputy mayor. People first praised for the experience and moral qualities they brought, then, at the first hint of a clarification or a proposal - even just one degree different from the dictated route to improve the path - stripped of their authority or forced to slam the door and leave.
As a mother and as a citizen, I ask myself: how did we get to this point?
Tomorrow I will tell you about the jobs that are not there and about the public housing that could have been our future.
